The Constantia Valley is truly Cape Town’s Vineyard
The oldest wine-making region in the southern hemisphere, dating back to 1685, Constantia Valley is today the Cape’s most intimate wine route consisting of nine wine farms, each with their own distinctive heritage and premium wines.
Enjoyed by Napoleon Bonaparte and royalty in the 18th century, Constantia Valley’s unique combination of terroir and climate produces some of the world’s finest wines that continue to this day to win accolades and international awards for consistently high standard and quality.
Constantia Uitsig, known until 1940 as Constantia View, was the home of the Lategan family for five generations. Their ancestors arrived in South Africa in 1735. Today the farm features award winning wines, three world-renowned restaurants, a private cricket oval, Spa and a 16-roomed luxury hotel.
All Constantia Uitsig white wines are screw capped, whilst the red is bottled in natural cork. Constantia Uitsig was one of South Africa’s screwcap closure pioneers, implementing the select use of screwcap as early as 2003. Constantia Uitsig produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Red and White Bordeaux blends- all noble cultivars ideally suited to the climate in the valley.
La Colombe, one of Cape Town's most well-loved and awarded restaurants, achieved an impressive 12th place in the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurants of the World Awards 2010. With impeccable service and an award-winning wine list, La Colombe is a truly unforgettable experience!
