The Heritage Suites at Steenberg Hotel

Gaby Gramm, general manager of the Steenberg Hotel, said: “We find that discerning travelers are asking more often for facilities that are a ‘home away from home.’ So rather than expanding in number of suites, we felt we would serve our market better by having fewer suites that are more luxurious, spacious, and private.”
Graham Beck, a noted figure in the world of wine, has channelled the passion, enthusiasm and skill he has for wine into The Steenberg Hotel. The result is a true picture of a rich and colourful nation portrayed from the position of sincere and complete quality.
THE CAPE COLONIAL SUITE Cape Town’s rich colonial and cultural history has contributed to this style, with sources as widely different as medieval Holland and Germany, the French Huguenots and the islands of Indonesia. Decorated in a traditional Cape Dutch style, this one-bed roomed duplex suite is an illustration of the very best in hotel retreats. It has a total floor space of 166 m² and has a private pool in the true Cape Dutch tradition.
THE KHOI KHOI SUITE The Khoi Khoi, whose name means ‘men of men’, were some of the first inhabitants of the Cape. Peaceful, nomadic herders they are also among the first pottery makers in the archeological record books. In tribute to the harmonious nature of the Khoi Khoi, this two bedroom duplex suite contains artifacts and selection of original illustrations depicting the Khoi Khoi’s marvelous animated paintings on rocks and cave walls found throughout South Africa. Its clever and innovative styling, bold colours and clean lines mix the modern with the ancient to stunning effect. The suite is 163 m² and has a private pool.
THE DUTCH EAST INDIA SUITE Through their trading skills, The Dutch East India Company introduced Europe to the pleasures of tea, luxurious silks, rich spices and delicate blue and white porcelain. The Dutch East India Suite is a reflection of the cosmopolitan culture of Cape Town and celebrates the diverse cultural roots that developed into the Cape Town of today. The finest materials and colours of the Orient and the beautiful ceramics and artworks from the West are combined here to create a one-bed roomed suite of unprecedented luxury. Reminiscent of the cosmopolitan nature of Cape Town, the Dutch East India Suite demonstrates that it is the attention to detail which raises these rooms onto a platform of clear authority. The suite has one bedroom and is 116m². It has a private patio.
