La Colombe makes Top 20 list of World's Top Restaurants

A restaurant guide for the jet setting “wealthy elite” has listed La Colombe in Cape Town as one of the top 20 restaurant in the world.

La Colombe once again proved that they offer one of South Africa’s finest dining experiences after taking the 19th spot in Elite Traveler World’s Top Restaurants list. First place went instead to Chicago’s Alinea, which Restaurant magazine calls the best restaurant in America.

British chef Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck, in Bray came in second for “pushing the boundaries of British gastronomy” and providing a dining experience that excites the senses and reinvents traditional British classics.

Elite Traveler’s selection provides an interesting contrast to other international rankings like Restaurant magazine’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. While chef René Redzepi’s Copenhagen eatery Noma, for instance, has topped that ranking for two years running, it’s conspicuously absent from Elite Traveler. La Colombe,
